Comments on the production information

  • EACH OF THE THREE COMMODITIES UNDERGOES A METHOD UNIQUE TO ITS PROCESS BEFORE ELECTROWINNING. COPPER IS EXTRACTED FROM THE SLURRY FIRST, AS WELL AS FROM THE REPROCESSING OF THE ELECTROLYTE INTO CEMENT COPPER. NICKEL IS OBTAINED AFTER COPPER FROM FILTER CAKE, REDUCTION IN ELECTIC FURNACE, TO NICKEL CATHODE. COBALT IS EXTRACTED LAST USING A GASEOUS CHLORINE LEACH PROCESS. COBALT HYDROXIDE IS THE INTERMEDIATE PRODUCT, WHICH IS ACID TREATED TO ELIMINATE NICKEL, AND FINALLY ELECTROWINNED.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • 11/1986- CURRENTLY UNDERGOING EXPANSION FROM 90 MILLION LBS TO 120 MILLION LBS OF RECOVERABLE NICKEL. $43 MILLION U.S. COST FOR EXPANSION. VIRTUALLY ALL OF FALC-SUDBURY MATTE GOES TO THIS PLANT. ALSO BOTSWANA, S. AFRICA, AND OTHERS. REPORT WAS RECEIVED FROM CRA IN 1986 UNDER COPPER CONTRACT.
