  • ABOUT 3 PERCENT OF THE TOTAL COPPER RESERVES OF THE FORMER SOVIET UNION ARE CONCENTRATED IN THE PYRITE-POLYMETALLIC DEPOSITS. THESE ARE PRIMARILY THE NUMEROUS DEPOSITS OF THE RUDNY ALTAI, IN WHICH COPPER IS THE MAIN INDUSTRIAL COMPONENT. A NUMBER OF COPPER DEVELOPMENTS OF THIS KIND HAVE BEEN LOCALIZED IN THE PRE-CAMBRIAN LAYERS OF WESTERN SAYAN (MAINSK) AND NORTHEAST TUVA.
