Deposit ALL OF HEAVY MINERALS ARE TITANIUM MINERALS RATIO RANGES FROM 15 TO 50 TO 1 ILMENITE TO RUTILE. UNIDO STUDIES GAVE GAMBIAN RESERVES AS 5,000,000 TONS OF BLACK SANDS (NO HEAVY MINERAL CONTENT GIVEN). BETWEEN 1957 AND 1959 GAMBIAN OPERATIONS REPORTEDLY PRODUCED 60,000 TONS OF ILMENITE. IN 1975: STUDY BEING CONDUCTED FOR GAMBIAN GOVT. ON FEASIB- ILITY OF EXTRACTING ILMENITE,RUTILE AND ZIRCON FROM SANDS IN THE BRUFUT AND SANYANG AREAS. BRUFUT AND SANYANG ARE LOCATED ON COAST ABOUT 13 KM FROM EACH OTHER. CO-ORDINATES ARE OF SANYANG,30 KM SW OF BATHURST.
