Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • MINERAL ASSEMBLAGES IN THE SUPERGENE ZONE CONSIST OF IN- SOLUABLE FERRIC IRON OXIDES WITH ADSORBED NB-TA CLAYS, CRANDELLITE GROUP MINERALS, SECONDARY PHOSPHATES, MANGANIFEROUS WAD, AND REO. THE RESIDUAL ZONE CONTAINS APATITE, MAGNETITE, ILMENITE, PYROCHLORE, MONAZITE, AND SILICATES. PRIMARY CARBONATITE CONTAINS CALCITE, DOLOMITE, APATITE, BIOTITE, MAGNETITE, OLIVENE, AND PYROCHLORE.
  • THIS DEPOSIT CONSISTS OF A CARBONATITE INTRUSION, ABOUT 4 KM IN DIAMETER, IN THE PROTEROZOIC, FOLLOWED BY EXTENSIVE WEATHERING DURING THE TERTIARY TO FORM RESIDUAL AND SUPER- GENE ZONES. OVERLYING TERRESTIAL LAKES FORMED ALSO DURING THE TERTIARY, LEADING TO QUATERNARY ALLUVIAL FAN DEVELOPMENT COVERING THE DEPOSIT.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE PROJECT IS UNDERGOING A FEASIBILITY STUDY SCHEDULED FOR COMPLETION IN EARLY 1992. SOME OF THE TESTING ON BULK SAMPLES IS ORIENTED TOWARDS RECOVERY/REFINING OF THE REO BY MECHANICAL MEANS, RATHER THEN BY CHEMICAL TREATMENT. CAMPAIGN OF MINING AND BENEFICIATING LASTS 3 MONTHS PER YEAR.
