Deposit RECORDS 800-825 OF 1976 ENTRY. DEPOSIT DIMENSIONS, EXPLORATION. BULL 940-J - GENERAL INFO. FOR ALL RECORDS. RECORD 040/ MAX. SUR. AREA DISTURBED IS 1.5 THAT OF THE DEPO AREA GIVEN ON THE MAP BY PIERCE. RECORD 040/ DEPOSIT IS 7 MILES NORTH OF CEDARTOWN. RECORD 050/ A CARLOAD OF ORE WAS SHIPPED BUT DATES ARE UNKN SOME OF THE TEST PITS WERE EXCAVATED BY THE WORK PROJECTS AD TRATION MINERALS SURVEY AND THE PROPERTY WAS EXAMINED AND SA BY PIERCE AND THE BUREAU OF MINES (1943) REC 070 COBALT IS ASSOCIATED WITH LITHIOPHORITE AND HOLLAND WAS DEPOSITED BY GROUND WATER. THE CLAY CONTAINS 4-8% PELLET THAT RUNS 23% MN, 7.2% FE, 0.48% CO. RECORD 080/ COBALT BEARING MANGANESE ORE OCCURS AS PELLETS I RESIDUAL CLAY OF THE KNOX DOLOMITE. THE CLAY CONTAINS IRON AND ITS THICKNESS IS UNCERTAIN. THE PELLETS EXTEND TO DEPTH TO 20 FEET (6 M.) AS INDICATED BY DRILL HOLES AND ARE CONCEN IN AN AREA 350 FEET (107 M) IN DIAMETER. (SKETCH MAP, PIERCE THE PELLETS MAY BE DERIVED FROM THE WEATHERING OF AN ORE BOD THE KNOX DOLOMITE AS IS THE CASE IN A SIMILAR DEPOSIT (GIB MINE BULL 940-J P 282) BUT THERE ARE NO EXPOSURES OR PROSPEC THIS UNIT TO DETERMINE THIS. THE BERKSTRESSER, GIBSON, PENLAND HILL, & CALLAHAN DEP. OF G THE THOMPSON PROPERTY OF ALA., AND THE ARMS MINE OF VA. HAVE IMATED AGGREGATE OF 25,000 TONS OF MN OXIDES WITH 0.2% - 0.3 140,000 LBS.OF COBALT (REC.701)
