Comments on the geologic information

  • CHALCOCITE AND NATIVE CU ARE THE MAJOR ORE MINERALS
  • TIME OF ORE EMPLACEMENT IS CONTROVERSIAL. SOME INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE ORE IS AT LEAST IN PART SEDIMENTARY. OTHERS BELIEVE THAT ASCENDING WATER FROM PALEOAQUIFER IN COPPER HARBOR CONGLOMERATE MOVED INTO PYRITIC MUDS AND REPLACE THE PYRITE WITH CHALCOCITE. MOST WALLROCK ALTERATION IS PROBABLY DIAGENETIC. SOME BLACK SILTSTONE SHALE MEMBERS HAVE IRREGULAR OXIDIZED LAYERS AND ZONES WHICH SOME INVESTIGATORS INTERPRET AS WET SEDIMENT DEFORMATION OR MIXING.
