| Deposit | LOCATION IS OF AURORA SHAFT. EAST NORRIE SHAFT LIES 450 MET THE WSW OF THIS SHAFT, AND THE PABST SHAFT LIES 700 METERS E UNDER THE NAME OF NORRIE-AURORA GROUP, THESE MINES HAVE PROD 41,690,165 TONS OF REDDISH BROWN, HARD AND SOFT, BESSEMER AN BESSEMER ORE FROM 1885-1935. REPUBLIC STEEL AQUIRED THE PROP IN 1936, CHANGED THE NAME TO PENOKEE GROUP, AND SHIPPED 6,28 TONS OF SOFT, REDDISH-BROWN, NON-BESSEMER ORE FROM 1937-1950 MINES ARE WORKED BY SUBLEVEL CAVING. GREATEST DEPTH= 2,710 F THIS MINE WAS TAKEN OVER BY NORTH RANGE MINING CO. IN 1954 A OPERATED BY THEM UNTIL IT WAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN 1961. |
