| Deposit | Alkali deposits of the Independence Group (Berthaton + Dupont) are in 2 old river channels north of the present Sweetwater River. The channels are 3 miles apart and separated by a marked divide. New York and Philadelphia claims are in one lake. Wilmington an Wilkesbarre are lakes containing water thorughout the year. Early Mormon used sodium carbonate and bicarbonate from Omaha for raising bread. |
