  • RESERVES AND RESOURCES OF INDIA HAVE NOT BEEN ADEQUATELY DEFINED. THE ONLY AVAILABLE DATA ON INDIVIDUAL MINE RESERVES REPRESENTS EXPOSED MATERIAL IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE OPERATING MINES, AND THUS IS INSIGNIFICANT. THE RESOURCES ASSIGNED TO INDIA (63 MT) REPRESENT ESTIMATES BASED ON GEOLOGIC INFERENCE OVER BROAD AREAS. THESE RESOURCES ARE ARBITRARILY ASSIGNED TO THE MAHARASHTRA-MADYA PRADESH AREA (33 MT) AND THE KEONJHAR ARE (30 MT); THESE AREAS ACCOUNT FOR NEARLY 90% OF THE HIGH GRADE ORE PRODUCTION (MOST OF THIS IS FROM THE MAHARASHTRA-MADYA PRADESH AREA). FURTHER, RESERVES ARE NOT CATEGORIZED BY GRADE; PROBABLY LESS THAN HALF COULD BE UTILIZED IN THE PRODUCTION OF FEMN.
