Deposit EXTENSIVE ZONE OF GRAPHITIC QUARTZITES AND SCHISTS ON THE NORTH-WEST FLANK OF THE HILLS KNOWN AS NDUNGO AND CHILI- OGALI, ABOUT 9.6 KM SE OF NACHININGWEA IN THE SOUTHERN PROVINCE.CO-ORDINATES ARE OF CHILIOGALI HILL SUMMIT. DEPOSITS LOCATED ABOUT 3 KM FROM SOUTHERN PROVINCE RAILROAD PITTING AND TRENCHING AS OF 1960 - NINE 200 LB. SAMPLES EXAMINED IN SURVEY LAB AT DODOMA. GRAPHITIC ROCKS EXTEND BEYOND AREAS TRENCHED, TONNAGE UNKNOWN IN 1960 BUT SAID TO BE "CERTAINLY LARGE". GRAPHITIC ROCKS MAKE UP A ZONE 305 M WIDE WITHIN WHICH INDIVIDUAL BANDS CAN ATTAIN THICKNESSES OF UP TO 61 M. TESTS SHOWED AVG. CARBON CONTENTS OF 11.4 TO 27.8 %. ONE CONC. PRODUCED HAD 79% C AND REPRESENTED 28.2 % OF THE GROUND ROCK FEED (ROUGH FLOTATION ONLY). LAB TESTS ON ONE 200 LB. SAMPLE SHOWED CAPABLE OF PRODUCING CRUCIBLE GRADE FLAKE GRAPHITE TO COMMERCIAL SPECS. FLAKE FRACTION WAS ONLY 3-4 % OF THE RAW FEED (25% OF RAW FEED GAVE A 50% GRAPHITE CONCENTRATE OF -52 MESH).
