AS OF END 1975 THESE FIGURES HAD BEEN COMBINED INTO AN OPEN-PITTABLE RESERVE OF 72,000,000 MT AT 0.38% CU, 4.28% PB, 2.32% ZN, AND 1.7 OZ. AG/ST(Q MAT 1,COL.2). AS OF 1978 THE UG MINEABLE,PROVEN, RESERVE WAS 38,000,000 MT AT 0.45% CU, 6.35% PB, 2.87 % ZN AND 2.6 OZ. WATER SUPPLY WILL BE PIPED FROM THE ORANGE RIVER(47-50 KM DISTANCE). ESCOM (ELECTRICITY SUPPLY COMMISSION OF S.A.) COMPLETED A 190 KM LONG, 400 KV TRANSMISSION LINE FROM KENHARDT TO AGGENEYS BY DEC.1977-ASSUME TIE-IN TO MINE 10 KM SSW OF AGGENEYS WAS ALSO PROVIDED BY ESCOM. AMOUNT OF RAINFALL AND SEASON FOR MAX. RAINFALL IS NOT KNOWN. AREA IS ARID. AVG.COST OF ESCOM POWER IN THE CAPE NORTHERN UNDERTAKING FOR 1977 FOR MINING ESTABLISHMENTS WAS R 0.0198($0.0227) PER KWH.
