Relative position This placer gold occurrence is on an unnamed, south-flowing creek that terminates near the northwest corner of Snodgrass Lake. The area of placer activity extends for about a mile on either side of the map site, which is in the SW1/4 of sec. 9, T. 21 S., R. 1 E., of the Fairbanks Meridian. This is location B-1 of Balen (1990: 34-90). The location is accurate to within 1 mile.

  • Geologic Description = The drainage areaof this creek is underlain by Lower Cretaceous or Upper Jurassic metamorphosed turbidite cut by Lower Tertiary granodiorite and granite (Wilson and others, 1998). These rocks locally contain gold-bearing lode deposits (for example, HE172).
  • Age = Quaternary.
