Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Good prospects of fine placer gold were reported in 1915 (Brooks, 1916; B 642); a hole about a mile above the mouth hit bedrock at 52 feet. About 1.5 miles above the mouth on slope gravel, bedrock is greater than 125 feet deep (Brooks, 1916; B 642). Bedrock is mainly Ordovician chert possibly with some limestone and dolomite (Eberlein and others, 1977). There is no mention of mining or prospecting after 1915.
