| Relative position | This alluvial gold placer mine is on Tripple Creek, a west tributary to lower Nome River. The map location is at the approximate midpoint of placer mine tailings that extend at least 5,000 feet along the creek starting about 1 mile upstream from the mouth. The map location is at an elevation of about 100 feet in the NW1/4 section 22, T. 11 S., R. 33 W., Kateel River Meridian. The mined part of Tripple Creek is mostly on the older part of the Nome coastal plain at surface elevations are 100 to 200 feet. The mine location is accurate to within a quarter mile. |
