Relative position Placer mine tailings were mapped by Bundtzen and others (1994) in an unnamed east-flowing tributary to Nome River. The creek is in section 17, T. 10 S., R. 33 W., Kateel River Meridian. The tailings are at an elevation of about 300 feet. The location is accurate within about 1,000 feet.

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Placer mine tailings at a former mine site were mapped by Bundtzen and others (1994) in an unnamed east-flowing tributary of Nome River. Bedrock near the mine site is the chlorite rich metaturbidite schist and marble unit of Bundtzen and others (1994). The mine site is about one-half mile west of the Anvil Creek fault.
  • Age = Quaternary.
