Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Christmas Mountain is underlain by Tertiary diorite that intrudes Cretaceous sedimentary rocks. Cass (1959) also notes the presence of limestone on the north-facing ridge of Christmas Mountain. Several lode claims were staked on Christmas Mountain around 1900, when stibnite float was found on the mountain (Smith and Eakin, 1911).
