Relative position This site represents 6 sample sites around Mount Dana. Four of the sites are about 3.5 miles south of Mount Dana, one is about 1.5 miles northeast of the mountains and one is 2.5 miles southwest of it (Ellis and Apel, 1989). The map site is at an elevation of about 650 feet on Cabin Creek, in the W1/2 of sec. 15, T. 53 S., R. 78 W., of the Seward Meridian.

  • Geologic Description = This occurrence consists of samples, collected at six sites, of volcanic ash erupted from Mount Dana. Battle Mountain Exploration Company determined that this ash is gold-bearing (Ellis and Apel, 1989). Gold content averaged 3 milligrams per cubic yard, with a high of 8.5 milligrams.
  • Age = Quaternary.
