Economic information

Comments on the ore body information

  • Xin Ding, et al. 2010 state approximate sizes for these nearly vertical orebodies.
    Eagle - 480 m long, 100-200 m wide and 300 m deep.
    East Eagle - 600 m long by 150 m thick by >500 m deep.
The two orebodies are thought to be not connected at depth.
  • From the Xin Ding et al., 2010 maps, the Eagle and East Eagle orebodies appear to be separated by about 600 m (edge to edge).

Comments on the geologic information

  • Concerning model type and ore genesis, Xin Ding, et al. 2010 describe a shift in exploration strategy from large layered mafic intrusions in the Duluth and Mellen complexes, to smaller dike-like or sill-like conduits for Ni-Cu-PGE deposits associated with flood basalts in the Noril'sk region. The authors find similarities to conduit-style magmatic sulfide deposits such as Voisey's Bay, Labrador.
