Quarry in southeastern outcrop of bed of frim, blocky sandstone the underlies Shinn coal deposit and crops out around the outer edge of much of the Shinn Basin. Sandstone crops out over an aggregate area of many square miles in this county and sites at which quarries could be opened are presnt in virtually every township.
