Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Lambeth (1978) described the occurrence as coarse molybdenite with tungsten in fracture in quartz monzonite. Nelson and others (1983, unit Ti17) described the bedrock as granite and biotite-hornblende granite and granodiorite. Potassium-argon dates from samples of unit Ti17 range from about 35 to 41 m.y. (Reed and Lanphere, 1972; 1973). The rocks in the south seem to be younger than the rocks in the north (Nelson and others, 1983).
  • Age = Mineralization is Tertiary or younger. Potassium-argon dates from samples of this plutonic body range from about 35 to 41 m.y. (Reed and Lanphere, 1972; 1973).
