Comments on the geologic information

  • GEOL.DESC: GRAY SLATE STAINED WITH MANGANESE OXIDE, STRIKING N 45 E AND DIPPING 10 S. E., RANGES IN THICKNESS FROM 2 TO 10 FT. AT INTERVALS ALONG OUTCROP ARE EXPOSURES OF QUARTZITE CARRYING SMALL AMOUNTS OF RHODONITE. QUARTZITE APPEARS TO BE LENSES IN SLATE. AT THE NORTH END OF OUTCROP FINE GRAINED PORPHYRITIC METADIORITE IS EXPOSED, AND APPARENTLY INTRUDES SLATE AS A SILL. ALL ROCKS ARE STAINED BY IRON OXIDE.
