| Deposit | PROTORE IS MANGANESE CARBONATE ROCK. DEPOSIT SPORATICLY FOLLOWS REGIONAL STRUCTURAL TREND FROM RIO DE CONTAS TO RIO MARAO THEN TURNS NW AT SANTO ANTONIO. ORE BELT MEASURES UP TO 5 KM WIDE AND HAS 2.5 SPECIFIC GRAVITY. THE ORE IS BEDDED IN 8 RIDGES AND ALSO OUTCROPS IN THE VALLEY FLOOR. AN AVERAGE BED MEASURES 4 METERS THICK AND 100 METERS LONG. THERE ARE 3 MILLION TONS OF PROVEN RESERVES WITH 36 PERCENT MN, 6.5 PERCENT FE, 10.2% SI, AND 10.0% AI2O3. BUT WASHED ORE HAS 39.5% MN. MOST ORE IS RESIDUAL ROLLED FRAGMENTS AND BOULDERS. |
