Geologic structures

Type of structure Local
Structure description Area Underlain Mainly By A Long Roof Pendant Or Tongue Of Quartzite Of The Yura Formation Which. In General Strikes Nw. The Quartzite Is Fractured And Gently Folded Along Axes That Plunge Flatly Se, Its Structure Seems To Be Broadly Anticlinal. Quartzite Is Intruded By Quartz Monzonite That Crops Out As Two Stock-Like Bodies And An Irregular Dike At Least 2 Km Long. The Stocks Are Elongated Approx. Parallel To Fold Axes In The Quartzite.

Ore body information

  • General form VEINLETS AND STRINGERS OF CHRYSOCOLLA AND BROCHANTITE IN FRACTURED QUARTZITE, DISSEMINATED CHALCOCITE AND CHALCOPYRITE IN QUARTZ MONZONITE
    Depth to bottom 150M

Comments on the geologic information

  • DIORITE INTRUSION INTRUDED BY FELSITIC QUARTZ LATITE OR DACITE, POST MINERAL BASALT OR ANDESITE PLUG, POST MINERAL ANDESITE DIKE

Comments on the production information

  • HIGH GRADE COPPER ORE IS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN EXPLOITED DURING THE LATE 19TH CENTURY BY CHILEAN INTEREST, NO FURTHER ACTIVITY IS KNOWN

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • INSUFFICIENT DATA 3/74 TO MAKE ESTIMATE. METALLOGENIC MAPS OF PERU INDICATE A DEPOSIT CONTAINING BETWEEN 100,000 AND ONE MILLION TONS OF ORE.

Comments on the workings information

  • AREA WAS EXPLORED BY THE CERRO DE PASCO CORP. IN 1953-1954 AND SIX DIAMOND DRILL HOLES WERE PUT DOWN TO DEPTHS OF FROM 134 M TO 233 M. IN ADDITION, A VERY THOROUGH PROGRAM OF GEOCHEMICAL SAMPLING WAS CARRIED OUT. ORE GRADES IN THE AREAS DRILLED APPARENTLY PROVED TO BE TOO LOW FOR PROFITABLE OPERATIONS.
