BEFORE THE CIVIL WAR, ORE WAS HAULED TO THE BELZORO MILL AND IS SAID TO HAVE YIELDED 70 PENNYWEIGHTS OF GOLD PER DAY, OR ABOUT ?3,000 IN EIGHT MONTHS. LATER A 10-STAMP MILL WAS BUILT BUT THE SIZE OF THE TAILINGS PILE INDICATES THAT LITTLE ORE WAS MILLED.
