Deposit GREAT LAKES NICKEL LTD.-LOCATED IN PARDEE TOWNSHIP, 35 MILES FROM THUNDER BAY, NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO. GREAT LAKES AND BOLIDEN A/B HAVE DISCONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR NICKEL-COPPER PROPERTY (AS OF 10/74). TO DATE (10/74) AN ESTIMATED $10-MILLION OF A TOTAL COST OF ABOUT $38-MILLION HAS BEEN SPENT ON THE PROJECT, WHICH WAS TO HAVE COME INTO PRODUCTION IN 1975 AT A RATE OF 1.6-MILLION MTPY OF ORE BY THE END OF 1976. OUTPUT WAS ESTIMATED AT 36,280 MTPY OF NICKEL CONCENTRATES AND 28,340 MTPY OF COPPER CONCENTRATES, TO HAVE YIELDED 2964 MTPY OF NICKEL AND 7778 MTPY OF COPPER. PLANS INCLUDED EXPANSION TO 2.3-MILLION METRIC TONS OF ORE BY THE END OF 1976, WHICH WOULD REQUIRE AN ADDITIONAL $8-MILLION. COPPER RECOVERY WAS EXPECTED TO BE 85%, AND NICKEL RECOVERY, DEPENDING ON SULFIDE CONTENT OF ORE, RANGES BETWEEN 62 AND 68%. COORDINATES ARE APPROXIMATE
