  • ZINC MINING OPERATIONS WERE UNDERGROUND USING A SPIRAL SHAFT WHICH IS FULL OF WATER AND THE OPENING OF WHICH WAS BLASTED SHUT. THE AGSTONE OPERATION IS ON THE SURFACE.

  • AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF WORK WAS PERFORMED BETWEEN 1894 AND 1900 ON SHACKLETT PROPERTY. IN 1949, CARL STEHLE OF NEW YORK BECAME INTERESTED IN PROPERTY AND HAD REGISTIVITY SURVEY RUN BY F.W. LEE. DURING THIS PERIOD. IN 1950 TRI-STATE ZINC CO. CONDUCTED DIAMOND-DRILLING PROGRAM ANDBEGAN MINING IN 1957. IN 1963, ZINC MINING OPERATIONS WERE ABANDONED. IN 1963, FRED K. BETTS, III, QUARRY OPERATED AT SITE SELLING TAILINGS FOR AGRICULTURAL LIME, CLOSING OPERATIONS IN 1964. TIMBERVILLE LIME CO.
