Deposit RECORDS 800-823 OF 1975 ENTRY. CASSITERITE IS MENTIONED AS BEING PRESENT IN PEGMATITE BUT I CONCERNING ITS CHARACTER IS UNAVAILABLE. REC 030 LOCATION IS OF IN PLACE PEG ON LONG HILL. SEVERAL OU ARE ON THE HILL AND GLACIAL BOULDERS ARE FOUND SOUTH TO STER AN IN PLACE PEG WAS DISCOVERED ON THE LEOMINSTER-STERLING TO REC 040, A PORTION OF THE DISTRICT IS OUTSIDE THE URBAN AREA PRIMARY LAND USE IS DAIRY FARMING OR WOODLAND OF HARDWOOD FO THERE IS INSUFFICIENT DATA TO COMPUTE MAX. SUR. AREA DISTURB REC 050, DEPOSIT WAS EXAMINED BY THOM. NUTTALL (1824), ROSCO WHITNEY (1937), AND J.H. BRODRICK (1941) REC 060, SOME OF THE PEG INTRUDES A GRAY SERICITIC SCHIST WH GRAPHITIC IN PLACES. ANOTHER BODY IS ON THE EDGE OF A GNEISS PORPHYRITIC, BIOTITE GRANITE. PART OF THE PEG LENS IS ALBITE REC.070, MINERALOGY OF THE PEG. REC 080 CASSITERITE OCCURS IN PEG GLACIAL BOULDERS AND IN SO PEG. THAT OUTCROPS ON LONG HILL 0.5 MI SW OF LEOMINSTER. ONE PEG IN SCHIST IS LENTICULAR, 25 FT WIDE AND A LITTLE LON LENGTH,UPHILL IS PEG IN AND REPLACING GRANITE THAT OUTCROPS WIDE AND A LITTLE LONGER IN LENGTH. SEVERAL POOR EXPOSURES O ARE ON TOP OF LONG HILL AND PEG STRINGERS 2-3 IN THICK CUT S IN PLACES. AN ESTIMATED 500-1000 TNS OF FLOAT BOULDERS ARE I AREA. ONE LARGE BOULDER 2 MI SW OF LEOMINSTER IS 15FT X 15FT 100-200 YDS E IS PEG OUTCROP.
