Deposit SHERRIT GORDON ALSO RECEIVED PLANT FEED FROM INCO. THOMPSON UNTIL THEIR CONTRACT EXPIRED IN 1989. COPPER IS SHIPPED TO A DIFFERENT REFINERY FOR PROCESSING. THE PLANT ALSO PRODUCES BYPRODUCT ACID FOR SALE AS WELL AS INTERNAL USE. 89% OF FEED IS 12% NI CONCENTRATE. 11% OF FEED IS 72% NI MATTE. AS OF 1991 THE FACILITY MODIFIED TECHNOLOGY IN ORDER TO HANLE CUE CUBAN FEED. THE PLANT EXPANDED COBALT CAPACITY BY 19 PCT TO 1.8 MILLION LBS, ANNUALLY. IN 1992 THE PLANT COUD INCREASE PROD. AGAIN. PLANT IS PRODUCING ABOUT 15,000 MT OF CUBAN NICKEL IN 1992, ACCORDING TO AMM.
