Deposit ID 10310441
Record type Site
Current site name POD deposit
Alternate or previous names listed as part of RSM?s Pi?on project, Also referred to as part of the Railroad property, POD Zone, Record includes the nearby East Jasperoid orebody

Comments on the site identification

  • This record includes the POD deposit and the nearby East Jasperoid orebody a few hundred meters away. The POD deposit is controlled by Royal Standard Minerals and included in their Pi?on property descriptions , but is located about a mile south of the main Trout Creek/South Bullion deposit, which is described in a separate MRDS record.
The Main and North Pod deposits are noted on the Royal Standard website but no location information is given for them.

  • small open pit,test pit

Comments on other economic factors

  • In 1996, reserves were reported as 200,000 ounces of gold. In 1997, the POD zone was reported to contain drill indicated reserves of 1.5 million tons of ore grading 0.085 opt Au, or 127,500 ounces of gold, and the East Jasperoid orebody contained an additional 40,000 contained ounces for a total of 167,500 contained ounces of gold.

Comments on development

  • In 1997, the POD property was 50% owned by Exploration Brex Inc., and 50% owned by Exploration Mirandor Inc. who were conducting geologic mapping and sampling and planning a drill program. In 2004, Royal Standard Minerals owned the POD property as part of their Pi?on/Railroad Project, and was in an advanced exploration phase, having completed favorable leach tests on ore material from the POD deposit. In 2006, Royal Standard?s exploration was focused on developing the Main and North Pod near-surface zones in the South Bullion resource area, which includes a large, gold-silver bearing system with measured, indicated and inferred resources of 30.6 million tons grading 0.026 opt (0.01 opt cut-off). RSM sees for a deeper-lying feeder system beneath this low-grade surface mineralization. Their plans include pursuing a mining permit on this property in 2007 for an open pit heap leach operation.

Deposit The Pod-East Jasperoid deposits on the northern portion of RoyalStandard?s claim block, are near surface oxide gold orebodies hosted by altered lower plate Devonian rocks.
In 1998, the geological resource of the POD deposit was reported as 1.4 million tons grading 0.085 opt gold. It has been noted in the literature that the deposit may be pluton-related, and the property does encompass a stock, although genetic implications have not been substantiated.
