Comments on the location information

  • CUMMINS (1891, P. 451, MAP, PL. 18) FIRST LOCATED THIS DEPOSIT. WEGEMANN (1915, P. 52-53) MEASURED A SECTION HERE AND DESCRIBED THE 4-FT COPPER SANDSTONE AT AN ELEVATION OF 979 FT. FATH (1915, P. 145-146) DESCRIBED THE COPPER DEPOSIT, MENTIONING THAT IT ALSO OCCURRED IN SEC. 2. MERRITT (1940, P. 9) AND BRANSON, BURWELL, AND CHASE (1955, P. 7) QUOTED FATH. MALACHITE, AZURITE, CHALCOCITE, AND FOSSIL WOOD ARE IN THE RYAN SS. OF THE LOWER WELLINGTON OR CLAYPOOL FM., ABOUT 20-24 FT ABOVE THE BASE. ABOUT 50 FT OF THE OSCAR CONGLOMERATES, SH., AND SS. OCCUR BELOW THE WELLINGTON, DOWN TO THE RED RIVER. THE BLUFF IS ABOUT 100 FT HIGH HERE. WEGEMANN (1915, P. 51-54) CORRELATES THESE BEDS WITH OTHERS IN SECS. 2, 3, 4, 5-5S-11W. BACHMAN AND O'SULLIVAN (1954) COLLECTED THEIR SAMPLE ABOVE 1200 FT W. OF THE SECTION LINES BETWEEN SECS. 2 AND 3. THE SAMPLE WAS CLAYEY SS. WITH AZURITE. SHELTON AND OTHERS (1976, P. 151) LIST THIS DEPOSIT.
