Comments on the geologic information

  • OREBODIES WERE TABULAR LENSES PARALLEL TO GRANODIORITE CONTACT FOR APPROX. 1300 FT., 3 TO 20 FT. THICK. THE SOUTH PIT TACTITE BODY OCCURS WHERE THE CONTACT MAKES A RIGHT-ANGLE BEND, FORMING A TROUGH. SEVERAL LENGTHS OF SCHEELITE-BEARING TACTITE OCCUR NORTH OF THE OLD ALPINE MINE AREA. LITTLE OR NO TACTITE OCCURS WHERE THE BEDDING PARALLELS THE CONTACT.

Deposit THE PROPERTY OPERATED IN 1943, WAS IDLE FROM 1945 TO 1950. GETCHELL BEGAN OPERATING HERE IN 1950, AND THE PROPERTY WAS IDLE AGAIN BY 1954. MOST PRODUCTION WAS FROM 2 PITS AT N. AND S. ENDS OF THE PROPERTY. RECENT EXPLORATION (UP TO 1978) HAS DEMONSTRATED LITTLE POTENTIAL HERE FOR ADDITIONAL MINEARAL OREBODIES. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV

LARGE MASSES OF SILICATED ROCK OCCUR ALONG THE N-S STRIKIN-G CONTACT ZONE (EXPOSED ON WEST SIDE OF RANGE). IRREGULAR LENS-ES AND PODS OF GARNET TACTITE OCCUR WITHIN THE SILICATED ROCKS-. IN THE ALPINE PIT, TACTITE IS MAINLY COMPOSED OF EUHEDRAL MA-SSES OF DARK BROWN GARNET; SCHEELITE IS FINE-GRAINED AND VERY -SPARSE.
