Relative position MOST OF THE EXPLOITED VEINS TO DATE (1960) ARE ON NAVADO ANANEA IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF THE SETTLEMENT OF LA TINCONADA. THIS VILLAGE MAY BE THE HIGHEST PERMANENTLY INHABITED PLACE ON EARTH; ALTITUDE IS JUST OVER 5000 M, WITH SOME WORKINGS SEVERAL HUNDRED METERS ABOVE. THE AREA IS UNDERGOING ACTIVE GLACIATION.
