Deposit BARITE OCCURRED ENTIRELY WITHIN RESIDUAL CLAY. SANDSTONE AND CONGLOMERATE FRAGMENTS FOUND IN AREA, ALTHOUGH NO BEDROCK WAS EXPOSED. ABUNDANT QUARTZ FLOAT FOUND IN PROSPECT AREA.
Deposit EDMNUDSON (1938) AND STOSE & STOSE (1957) DESCRIBED THIS PROSPECT AND ITS LOCATION AT THE HEADWATERS OF TURKEY FORK. FIELD INVESTIGATIONS CONDUCTED 8/27/86 AND 9/9/86. BOGE CALLAHAN (PERSONAL COMMUNICATION, 1986) IDENTIFIED THE PROSPECT LOCATION. HE HAD FOUND THE PROSPECT AND COLLECTED BARITE SAMPLES HERE MANY YEARS AGO. HE DESCRIBED THE PROSPECT AS BEING A SMALL TRENCH OR PIT, 10 TO 20 FT ABOVE THE CREEK, ON THE SOUTH BANK, NEAR A SMALL FORK IN THE CREEK AND NEAR AN OLD HOUSE FOUNDATION. NO INDICATION OF A PROSPECT OR WORKINGS COULD BE SEEN IN THE FIELD. IT IS BELIEVED THE DESCRIPTION AND LOCATION GIVEN BY MR. CALLAHAN ARE ACCURATE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 3 FIELD OBSERV; 5 PERS COMM
