Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = This occurrence consists of an epithermal hot spring deposit containing carbonized fossil plant fragments preserved in siliceous cap rock. Grab samples of the deposit contain as much as 0.24 ppm gold, 1.8 ppm silver, 3 ppm mercury, and 380 ppm lead. The country rocks are largely Jurassic volcanic rocks (Box and others, 1993).
  • Age = Tertiary the preservation of a surface hot spring deposit containing plant fragments suggests that they are Tertiary in age.
