Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = The host rock is Upper Cretaceous sheeted basalt of the Valdez Group that has been sheared and brecciated (Tysdal, 1978). The shear and breccia zone is 0.6 meters wide and contains quartz, pyrite, chalcopyrite, and galena. Analysis showed 3 ppm silver, 70 ppm cadmium, 1,500 ppm copper, 3,000 ppm lead, and 9,200 ppm zinc. Tysdal (1978) considers this occurrence to be a volcanogenic massive sulfide deposit.
  • Age = Cretaceous or younger; breccia zone in Cretaceous basalt.
