Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Placer gold in Poorman Creek drainage. Bedrock in lower part of Poorman Creek (in Talkeetna Mountains quadrangle) is conglomerate, shale, and sandstone; upper part of stream is andesite lava and tuff of the Early Jurassic and Late Triassic(?) Talkeetna Formation. The placer ground is about 6 ft deep (Chapin, 1918).
  • Age = Quaternary
