Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Maddren (1913, p. 107-108) reported small-scale mining operations dating back to 1901 at this site. Gold recoveries were said to be poor, earning only enough to cover wages. Reed (1938) found no evidence of mining, and local miners reported prospecting efforts had never located payable quantities of gold. Bedrock in the area is mapped as calcareous schist (Brosgi and Reiser, 1964).
  • Age = Quaternary.
