Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = By 1912, two areas of low grade gold mineralization were exposed (Times Publishing Company, 1912). One area consisted of a 3- to 6-inch-wide, iron-oxide-cemented breccia exposed in a short tunnel. Small amounts of free gold could be panned from this material (Smith, 1913; B 525). This mineralization is flat-lying and appeared to be a capping rather than a shear zone. The second occurrence on the Sky High prospect is 14 feet wide and is accessed by a 15 foot deep shaft. The gold content of this occurrence was not considered to be of commercial grade in 1912 (Smith, 1913; B 525).
