Deposit MOST OF GOLD IN BENCH PLACER IN LOWER MILE OF CREEK; WELL-DEFINED WORKABLE BENCH 150 FT. ABOVE CREEK ON THE NORTH SIDE. ABOVE THIS BENCH, AT AN ELEVATION OF ABOUT 400 FT. ABOVE THE CREEK, AN OLD CHANNEL ON THE SPUR BETWEEN THE MAIN BRANCH AND THE SOUTH FORK OF QUAIL CREEK SHOWS COLORS. SOME GOLD ALSO IN STREAM PLACER; PAYSTREAK SAID TO BE ABOUT 300 FT. WIDE AND GRAVEL ABOUT 5 FEET THICK. DIKES CUTTING BEDROCK CARRY SULFIDES. SOME OF GOLD IN CREEK MAY HAVE BEEN RECONCENTRATED FROM BENCH PLACER.
Deposit STREAM GRADIENT ABOUT 150 FT. PER MILE. DISCOVERS OF GOLD WANTED TO CALL STREAM "PTARMIGAN" CR., BUT COULDN'T SPELL IT AND SETTLED FOR "QUAIL". ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
