  • ALLUVIUM FROZEN. TWO MILES OF CREEK DREDGED 1916-17.

Comments on development

  • DURING THE WINTER OF 1914-1915 ABOUT 40 PROSPECT HOLES WERE SUNK ON THE UPPER PART OF THE CREEK, AND THE FOLLOWING SUMMER ABOUT 65 MORE WERE PUT DOWN FROM 5 TO 17 FEET DEEP TO TEST THE GROUND FOR DREDGING. MINED BY OPEN CUTS 1914-15. DREDGE INSTALLED, 1915; DREDGE OPERATED 1916-17. MINING REPORTED IN MOST YEARS UNTIL 1942 AND AT VARIOUS TIMES BETWEEN 1946 AND 1960. SOME MINING AS RECENTLY AS 1975. MINED IN 1975 BY BULLDOZER.
