  • INTERMITTANT SMALL-SCALE MINING OR PROSPECTING BETWEEN 1908 AND 1932 REPORTED. MINING BY OPEN-CUT METHODS. EXPLORED BY SEVERAL PROSPECT PITS AND DRILL HOLES.

Deposit GOLD AND CASSITERITE IN BASAL PART OF MAINLY UNFROZEN CREEK AND BENCH GRAVELS AND IN THE TOP FEW FEET OF BEDROCK. JUST BELOW THE MOUTH OF HENDERSON CREEK PLACERS APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN LIMITED TO THE PRESENT CREEK GRAVEL DEPOSITS, ALTHOUGH SOME BENCH GRAVELS PROBABLY WERE MINED. GOLD BEARING GRAVELS AT AN UNKNOWN SITE ABOUT 5 FEET THICK. GROUND SAID TO AVERAGE 12 TO 20 FEET IN DEPTH; INCLUDES BOTH MUCK OVERBURDEN AND GRAVEL.
Deposit THIS SITE NAME WAS CREATED BY THE REPORTER OR OTHER USGS EMPLOYEE BASED ON PROXIMITY TO SOME MAJOR GEOGRAPHIC FEATURE.
