Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Zinc values in carbonate breccia. Upper 10 mi (16 km) of Porcupine River within Coleen 1:250,000 quadrangle traverse geologically complex region of lower Paleozoic and(or) Precambrian dolomite, pyritic quartzite, and black shale and slate, intruded by thin mafic sills. Samples of brecciated dolomite and limestone contain silica, chalcedony, calcite, goethite, hematite, and lead and zinc minerals, and sediment samples contain anomalous lead, barium, chromium, copper, molybdenum, selenium, lanthanum, and tin.
