  • HEIN AND OTHERS (1983) DESCRIBE LENSES OF RED AND YELLOW JASPER SEVERAL METERS LONG BETWEEN BASALT FLOWS, IN THE UPPER PART OF THE NICOYA OPHIOLITE COMPLEX, IN THE VICINITY OF HATILLO. THE SEDIMENTARY ROCKS ARE TURONIAN (LCRET) IN AGE. THE ROCKS HAVE BEEN METAMORPHOSED TO PREHNITE-PUMPELLYITE FACIES.
