Comments on the geologic information

  • OVERLAIN BY CALCAREOUS SHALE, ALTERED LIMESTONE IS A FINE-GRAINED, AGGREGATE OF SERICITE, QUARTZ, FLUORITE, CHLORITE, AND SCHEELITE. ALTERATION APPEARS TO FOLLOW JOINTS IN THE LIMESTONE AND ALONG THE NARROW PEGMATITE STRINGERS. SCHEELITE AND BERYL OCCURS IN SMALL PEGMATITIC POCKETS AND STRINGERS IN VEINS A FEW INCHES THICK THAT ALSO CONTAIN FLUORITE AND COLORLESS BERYL.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit VEINS ARE COMMONLY ONLY A FEW INCHES THICK AND CONSIST MAINLY OF QUARTZ WITH LESSER AMOUNTS OF FLUORITE, MUSCOVITE, TOURMALINE, COLORLESS BERYL AND PYRITE. THE SCHEELITE-BERYL DEPOSIT IS IN LIMESTONE NEAR THE CONTACT WITH RHYOLITE. THE BERYL CRYSTALS ARE A FRACTION OF AN INCH TO 2 INCHES LONG. MINERALIZATION IS VERY SIMILAR TO THAT OF OREANA MINE (BONHAM). JOHNSON AND BENSON REPORT, " SCHEELITE-BEARING TACTITE IN WEST FACE OF PIT APPEARS AS AN INVERTED TRIANGLE, WHICH ON SURFACE WAS 10 FEET WIDE."
Deposit THIS RECORD HAS BEEN MERGED WITH M060320, WHICH HAS BEEN DELETED.
