Deposit THE PEGMATITE IS A POD-LIKE BODY THAT TRENDS NORTH-NORTHEAST IN CONFORMITY TO THE STRIKE OF THE FOLIATION OF THE AMPHIBOLE SCHIST COUNTRY ROCK. THE PEGMATITE DIPS SLIGHTLY WEST-NORTHWEST IN CONTRAST TO THE STEEP EAST-SOUTHEAST DIP OF THE COUNTRY ROCK. A ZONAL STRUCTURE IS EVIDENT WITH AN INNER CORE OF MASSIVE QUARTZ AND THREE OUTER ZONES. THE RARE-EARTH AND URANIUM MINERALIZATION WAS FOUND ON THE WEST AND NORTH SIDES OF THE PIT ALONG THE UPPER CONTACT OF A MICA-RICH "STREAK". MINERALS PRESENT INCLUDE SMOKY QUARTZ, COLUMBITE, HATCHETTOLITE, URANINITE, SAMARSKITE, EUXENITE (OR FERGUSONITE, BISMUTITE, AND GUMMITE. GANGUE MINERALS INCLUDE MICROCLINE, ALBITE-OLIGOCLASE AND QUARTZ. JAHNS (1946) PROVIDES AN EXCELLENT DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPOSIT.
