Comments on development

  • UNITED URANIUM N.L. PRODUCED URANIUM IN THE 1950'S AND 1960'S. BHP ANNOUNCED IN 1987 THAT A DRILLING PROGRAM OVER THE PREVIOUS TWO YEARS HAD PROVEN HIGH-GRADE GOLD MINERALIZATION ASSOCIATED WITH PLATINUM AND PALLADIUM OCCURRENCES. BHP SAID THAT SUFFICIENT POSSIBLE ORE RESERVES COULD BE INFERRED TO ALLOW PRELIMINARY PLANNING TO PROCEED FOR A CONVENTIONAL OPEN-PIT MINING OPERATION BEGINNING AT A PRODUCTION RATE OF 500,000 TPA OF ORE. UNCONFIRMED ESTIMATES SUGGESTED THAT THE GOLD GRADE EXCEEDED 7 G AU/MT.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit WITHIN ORE ZONE, "ORE" GRADE MINERALIZATION FORMS NARROW TABULAR BODIES WHICH ARE VERTICAL OR DIP STEEPLY TO THE EAST AND STRIKE N TO NNW. THE BODIES PLUNGE SOUTH AND VARY IN WIDTH FROM 2 M TO 35 M (AVE. 10 M). THESE TABULAR BODIES ARE SUBPARALLEL TO THE N- TO NW-TRENDING FAULT ZONE AND ARE CONSIDERED TO INDICATE AREAS OF SYMPATHETIC FRACTURING WHICH ACTED AS CONDUITS FOR MINERALIZING FLUIDS. THE MINERALIZATION IS CONFINED TO STRATIGRAPHIC UNITS BELOW THE CORONATION SANDSTONE, BUT OTHERWISE SHOWS NO PREFERENCE FOR A PARTICULAR ROCK TYPE.
