Comments on the commodity information

  • THE DEMAND FOR RARE EARTH MINERALS IS GROWING AND THEY MAY PROVIDE A SIGNIFICANT BY-PRODUCT DURING THE SECOND PERIOD OF URANIUM PRODUCTION. (OTHER SMALL URANIUM DEPOSITS IN THE EASTERN TROUGH CARRY DAVIDITE, AND RUNS ARE IN PEGMATITES). SOME CARYOCERITE (CERIUM BORO-SILICATE) AND RINKITE (CALCIUM-SODIUM-IRON-TITANIUM-CERIUM SILICATE) ALSO OCCUR. SMALL QUANTITIES OF SULFIDES, PYRITE, CHALCOPYRITE, PYRRHOLTITE. COUNTRY ROCK IS GARNETIZED AROUND THE ORE BODY. RARE EARTH. GOLD IS IN THE ALLUVIUM OF THE MOUNT ISA AREA, WHICH IS ALSO THE LOCALE OF COPPER AND LEAD DEPOSITS. THE CLONCURRY COPPER DISTRICT, 120 KILOMETERS EAST OF MOUNT ISA, IS ALSO IN THE MOUNT ISA BELT. COBALT - COPPER AND SCHEELITE HAS BEEN RECOVERED FROM THE EASTERN TROUGH; IRON HAS BEEN RECORDED IN SKARN-TYPE DEPOSITS, AND AT MOUNT PHILLIPS A BODY OF HEMATITE, MAGNETITE, AND QUARTZ IN A FAULT ZONE CONTAINS MEDIUM-GRADE ORE.
