  • Political location in record is Powell county. However, lat/long plots in adjacent Deer Lodge county. Original coordinates for line#1 were: lat/long NAD27 46-12-4N 113-1-53W (46.20111 -113.03139); UTM N<blank> E<blank> Z<blank>; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- <blank>, TWNSHP 005N, RNG 011W, Sect 07, Sect_fract <blank>. Relative position information says 2.23 mi SE of Olson Mtn. In Google Earth, the lat/long plots 2.3 mi ESE of Olson Mountain . If lat/long was recalculated using WG84 datum, the point would shift 240 m N, the distance to Olson Mtn drops to 2.23 mi. The location is well inside Madison county, not near the Powell county line. The PLSS coordinates agree. No reason could be found for the county name Powell so it was changed to Madison.
