Subject category Comment text
Deposit A 4 FT WIDE VERTICAL FLUORSPAR VEIN, STRIKING N 50 W, IS EXPOSED IN A PIT ON THE CREST OF A HIGH RIDGE TRENDING NORTH FROM COOK'S PEAK. THE SILICEOUS VEIN IS TRACEABLE FOR 35 FT IN LIMESTONE HOST ROCK. THIS EXPOSURE IS A REPLACEMENT TYPE DEPOSIT CONTAINING ABOUT 50% CAF2. A SECOND VEIN THAT STRIKES NW AND DIPS 15 TO 20 SW IS TRACEABLE FOR ABOUT 200 FT ALONG THE WEST SLOPE OF THE RIDGE. TRUE VEIN THICKNESS, ALTHOUGH MASKED BY THE LOW ANGLE DIP, IS ESTIMATED TO BE 2 TO 3 FT. THIS VEIN APPEARS TO HAVE REPLACED LIMESTONE ALONG A FRACTURE PARALLEL TO BEDDING. FLUORITE OCCURS AS YELLOW AND GREEN CRYSTALS EDGED WITH PURPLE.
