Comments on the location information

  • Political location in record is Beaverhead county. However, lat/long falls in Madison county. Original coordinates for line#1 were: lat/long NAD27 45-23-51N 112-22-15W (45.3975 -112.37083); UTM N<blank> E<blank> Z<blank>; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- Montana Principal, TWNSHP 005S, RNG 010W, Sect 16,17,18, Sect_fract <blank>. Armstrong Gulch is centered at the same latitude but 112 52W, in Beaverhead county. This agrees with the location comment "2.0 MI W OF INDIAN QUEEN MINE". Reporter likely mistyped the longitude minutes as 22 instead of 52, so they were changed to 52. The relative position description "16.9 MI N40W OF DILLON is probably incorrect, and was deleted.
